Throughout history, animals have been more than companions. They have been guides, mirrors, and messengers. They shaped how we see ourselves and the worlds beyond.
For me, the Animantras were born on a small island in Thailand. I had just finished reading the Tao Te Ching, a gift from my mother, with its gentle wisdom and many reflections on the nature of dogs. At that time, I was taking care of two island dogs, surrounded by packs of wild Thai dogs running free along the beaches. Their presence opened a new way of seeing – as if I could step into their instincts and feel life through their senses.
The eagle came next, rising within me like wings unfolding from my shoulder blades, ready for flight. The geckos sang at night from the wooden beams of my treehouse, their voices like encrypted music – strange, alien, playful – as if they were revealing hidden codes of nature.
The elephant appeared as a temple-being, its legs and trunk reaching deep into earth and water, channeling energies between realms. And the whale carried me into the depths: a timeless traveler, wandering its dragon path through the ocean, with sunlight shimmering above like a mirror of the sky.
Each Animantra is not just an image but a vibration – a living resonance. It is a glimpse into how animal energies move through us, and how we resonate with them in return, weaving subtle exchanges between spirit and nature. Sometimes this happens consciously, sometimes simply by feeling, but always as part of a larger dance of connection.
Dog Animantra 🐕
A dog rests in calm presence, embodying loyalty and the bridge between the earthly and the spiritual. Its posture reflects trust and a quiet guardianship of the unseen.
I first felt this energy while walking the beaches of Thailand with wild dogs at my side – their eyes steady, their bodies grounded, their spirits both fierce and gentle.
Symbolism: Loyalty, guardianship, resting between worlds. Inspired by The Creation of Adam, representing the spark of connection between heaven, earth, and layers of consciousness.
Colors: Dark silver, light brown, dark white, black.
Eagle Animantra 🦅
An eagle soars high above mountain peaks, wings spread wide against the horizon, carrying divine light in its flight.
One night in meditation, I felt wings pushing out from my shoulder blades – my body bent in a warrior’s crouch, claws digging into the earth, ready for takeoff. The eagle became both vision and embodiment.
Symbolism: Vision, transcendence, spiritual messenger. Resonating with Garuda, the radiant bird of Hindu-Buddhist tradition, symbol of liberation and divine power.
Colors: Golden tones, bronze, deep reds, dark greys.
Gecko Animantra 🦎
A luminous gecko climbs along ancient roots, framed by a great cosmic tree that breathes with wisdom and renewal.
At night, the geckos in my treehouse seemed to play songs in secret codes – strange rhythms echoing like the encrypted music of nature itself. Their alien touch made me feel how adaptation reshapes our bodies and senses, stretching perception into unfamiliar dimensions.
The rain that often fell, like during the Songkran festival of renewal, seemed to bless their presence – a reminder that rebirth often comes with water, play, and hidden songs.
Symbolism: Regeneration, adaptability, cosmic knowledge. Inspired by the Deku Tree of Zelda, symbolizing wisdom, rootedness, and mystical renewal.
Colors: Shades of green, earthy browns, soft yellows.
Elephant Animantra 🐘
A majestic elephant walks calmly, adorned with subtle ceremonial motifs, radiating wisdom and stability like a living temple.
In vision, I saw its legs and trunk rooted deep into sand and water, drawing energy upward as if the earth itself was breathing through its body.
Symbolism: Strength, wisdom, memory, sacredness. Rooted in Thai culture and mythology, elephants embody protection and spiritual grounding.
Colors: Grey tones, ivory white, gold and red ceremonial accents.
Whale Animantra 🐋
In the depths of the ocean, a whale glides in silence, its massive body moving like a constellation beneath the waves.
I imagined it traveling endlessly along its dragon path – through shallow waters and abyssal depths, always reflecting the sunlight shimmering above like the threshold between sea and sky.
Symbolism: Depth, intuition, ancient memory. In Greek myth, whales echo primordial sea beings, keepers of mystery and cosmic rhythm.
Colors: Deep blues, turquoise, sea greens, silver highlights.
A Living Bestiary in Motion
The Animantras mark the beginning of a living bestiary, an evolving collection of spirit animals that merge art, myth, and personal experience. Each Animantra adds a thread to this tapestry of inner and outer nature – a reminder that every being carries a frequency, and that we are constantly resonating with each other in ways both visible and unseen.
The quest continues with more Animantras, songs, and visions yet to emerge.
